Report shows that coffee can be good for you

The New York Times recently reported that people who regularly drink coffee have a lower risk of dying from a variety of diseases, compared with people who drink little or no coffee. You do not know how happy this makes me feel. If the New York Times says so then it must be true.

I’m sure you all by now know that I am a coffee fiend. I am not one of those hipster posers who only enjoy coffee because it looks good or that the cool kids drink it. I love the taste. I love the pageantry of making the perfect coffee. I love the feeling you get when you take that first sip in the morning.

So I was extremely pleased to hear that my caffeine addiction passion was not going to get me in trouble later on in life. Over the years I have heard conflicting reports that coffee is good for you and then some that say its bad for you.

After an extensive study that monitored coffee-drinking habits of more than 400,000 men and women, which made it the biggest study into the coffee versus health debate, a report was published in The New England Journal of Medicine. Without going into too much detail, previous surveys did not explore the fact that coffee drinkers were more likely to be smokers who ate loads of red meat and didn’t exercise much. In other words these people were already living an unhealthy lifestyle before even bringing the coffee consumption into play.

By isolating participants who were healthy to start off with and who enjoyed coffee, it was discovered that that coffee did nothing harmful to the individual. In fact the study shows that these healthy coffee drinkers actually had a better chance of not contracting varies diseases. This is because coffee itself has many antioxidants and other minerals that is useful to the human body.

So go out now and grab yourself a Starbucks. Its good for you.
